Republicans compete on pheasant plans

Here are links to the pheasant plans announced Friday by the campaigns of U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem and state Attorney General Marty Jackley.

The Jackley link is

South Dakota Pheasant Hunting Initiative

The Noem link is (I couldn’t get it to transfer in the same way as the Jackley plan did. You will need to copy and paste it into your Internet browser)

Noem and Jackley are competing for the Republican nomination for governor of South Dakota. Let me know what you think about their pheasant plans.

I’ve a degree in wildlife biology from years ago. unless recent research has shown things have changed:
pheasants have been here since 1912, I don’t think we can “improve” on their long established genetics.
releasing birds that are NOT adapted to an area is not helpful. the wild birds are not EXTINCT!
predator control is usually a waste of time and money. In addition, HOW, humanely?
yes, habitat is the key. Most of the land in SD is in private hands, and fields are getting larger, more mono crops, more GMO’s, more roundup, less diversity. Less pheasants, less monarchs, less honeybees.
